My tuition kids' mothers called and messaged me during the day...today was the PSLE results and for these 12 year old kids, it's like the one that determines their next stage in life and education...
was nervous for these 2 because they are especially weak and even in the prelim, they still failed...one even had her teacher telling her that it would be a miracle if she passed her Math...
So, today is the day...
And both of them passed..
Yokatta! Alhamdulillah...
Though they may not really have like the greatest grades (one still went to Normal Academic, athough he had 1 A, 1B and 2Cs)...but for me, I'm glad that they managed to pass all their subjects...
Was especially worried for the boy because I was guiding him since last year and he was getting better but somehow he went down for the prelims...
The girl is ok, I know she has potential, but because her teachers have been telling her that she is a failure and lost cause..she has lost confidence in herself...I only took her in May...so knowing that she did good despite like only 5 months with me, I'm just glad she is able to move on fine (and show those teachers who gave up on her that they are SOOO WRONG!)
All this has taught me a lessson...the teacher is an important person who really can impact how a student views himself and that our actions really affect these young ones' future..
Hopefully, I'll be a good teacher in the future...People always ignore the neighbourhood school kids and think of them as not smart...I want to change that...I want to show people that at the end of the day, everyone has the potential to succeed!
Yosh, gambarimasu!
